Basic scientific achievements |
According to the 2016 rating of Thomson Reuters agency (based on Web of Science data) Allahverdiev SI. was recognized as the most highly cited scientist in Russia in the nomination "Biology" (see: http://fano.gov.ru/ru/press-center/card/?id%204=37655 ; also see: http://scholar.google.ru/citations?user=rjzSITcAAAAJ&hl=en; https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Suleyman_Allakhverdiev2 Has been studied primary mechanisms underlying the functioning of the electron transport chain of photosystem II, i.e. kinetics and energetics of electron transfer in photosystem II, involving pheophytin (intermediate electron acceptor), that included in all textbooks on the field of physico-chemical biology worldwide. Also, has been studied the molecular mechanisms of adaptation of the photosynthetic apparatus of plants to adverse environmental conditions using the methods of physical and chemical biology, including DNA microarrays. Currently, he is working and actively developing a new direction in the field of nanobiotechnology research - a system of artificial photosynthesis using protein structures to produce molecular hydrogen as an alternative energy source. |
