| Basic activity directions | Research of social and economic problems of formation of independent national economy of Azerbaijan, and also problems of macroeconomic and regional development. | |
| Main scientific achievements | Recently, at the Institute of Economics carries out research works on a number of topics under the general name of "Socio-economic problems of building post-oil economy in the Republic of Azerbaijan". These studies cover the problems of economic policy and state regulation of the economy, the regulation of demographic processes and the socio-economic problems of human potential development, the rational use of natural resources and socio-economic issues of regional development, the state regulation of the sectoral development of the economy.
Since 2014, in the Institute of Economics carries out scientific investigations on Leftness (Rightness) Index – L(R) IE. The same index gives us opportunities for counting the level of state regulstion of different countries of the world. The Index of Leftness (Rightness) of Economy – IL(R)E – is an indicator annually being published by the Institute of Economics since 2014. At the initial stage, the Index was calculated for the Eastern Europe and Central Asia (EECA), and for some selected developed countries (37 nations in total). Another 25 countries with different level of economic development and representing various regions of the world are added in Report for 2015, and the number of observed countries has reached 62. In 2016, 98 countries have been involved in researches In the last 16 years, have published more than 100 monograph by the employees of the institute, and near 2100 scientific works and more than 450 scientific works published in abroad (20 scientific works published in journals impact factor). |
