The conference titled "The role of tolerance in Islamic culture and the role of humanity in the development of human culture (Azerbaijan's example)" has started its work on March 28 jointly with the Presidium of ANAS and the International Institute of Islamic Thought.

Scientists from Ukraine, director of the Institute of Philosophy of ANAS, doctor of philosophy, professor Ilham Mammadzadeh, chief of press and information office of ANAS Presidium Zulfugar Farzaliyev and employees of ANAS Institute of Philosophy and Literature attend the event held at the Shamakhi Astrophysics Observatory named after N.Tusi.

The conference was opened by Professor Ilham Mammadzadeh and spoke about the historical traditions of multiculturalism in Azerbaijan. He noted that historically in our country, representatives of different peoples and ethnic groups lived in solidarity, in peace and in mutual understanding, regardless of their identity, language and religion. Noting that multiculturalism and tolerance are the lifestyle of our people, I.Mammadzadeh recalled that President Ilham Aliyev declared 2016 the Year of Multiculturalism in our country and noted that multicultural values today have become the state policy of our republic and that international humanitarian, intercultural dialogue and forums have been held in Baku in this direction. He also stressed that Azerbaijani multiculturalism has become a model in the world and many countries.

Then, Oleg Kuzik, a master of the Ukrainian Center for Islamic Studies, spoke on the theme "Inter-religious relations and multiculturalism in Ukraine", stressing the importance of Azerbaijan's multiculturalism model for Ukraine.

Heads of Departments of the Philosophy Institute – Doctor in philosophy Afaq Rustamova, Doctor in philosophy Rafiga Azimova, Doctor in philosophy Fuzuli Gurbanov Doctor in philosophy Ali Abbasov Doctor in philosophy, Sakit Huseynov, Ph.D. in philosophy, Associate Professor Sevinj Hasanova, Ph.D. in philosophy Sholet  Zeynalov,  Ph.D. in philosophy Huseyn Ibrahimov and others made speeches at the meeting . It was noted that multiculturalism should be reflected not only in one country's internal problems but also in foreign policy issues.

It should be noted that the conference will finish on March 31.
