Today, a celebrate geologist, scientist of "Progress" medal, deputy director of science at the Institute of Geology and Geophysics, corresponding member of ANAS Dadash Huseynov is 60 years old.

Dadash Agha-Javad oglu Huseynov was born on December 27, 1959 in Baku in a noble family. In 1967-1977 he studied at the school number 175 in Baku. In 1982 he graduated from the Azerbaijan State University (now Baku State University) with a degree in specialty “Geologist - Engineer”.

He worked as an engineer (1984-1986), senior engineer (1986-1991), scientific researher (1991-1993), senior researcher (1993-1996), leading researcher (1996-2002) at the Institute of Geology and Geophysics of ANAS. He has been working as the head of the GIS sector since 2002. From 2003 to 2010, he served as head of the GIS Analysis Division of Geological-Geophysical Data. Since 2010 he has been head of the Basin Modeling and Geotechnologies Department. Since 2013 he is the deputy director of science of the Institute.

D. Huseynov defended his thesis on "Geology, search and exploration of ore and non-ore deposits" and doctoral thesis on "Hydrocarbon systems of the South Caspian basin". In 2017, he was elected a corresponding member of ANAS in "Oil-gas geology".

The scientist was one of the first to introduce modern technologies for digital processing of geological and space data and modeling of three-dimensional basins at the Institute of Geology and Geophysics. He has led projects sponsored by major transnational oil companies such as “BP”, “Shell”, “Exxon-Mobil”, “Conoco-Phillips”, “Lukoil”, “OMV”, “Rosneft”, “Chevron”.

D. Huseynov is the co-author of more than 140 scientific articles and 5 books. The scientist is also involved in the training of scientific-pedagogical and young staff. Since 2013, he has been the head department "Geology of oil and gas" under Institute of Geology and Geophysics of the Azerbaijan State University of Oil and Industry. He supervised one doctor of philosophy.

D. Huseynov is a member of the International Society of Sedimentologists (IAS), American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) and European Association of Geo-Scientists and Engineers (EAGE). In 2017, was awarded Medal “Tereggi” by the President for his contribution to the development of the oil and gas industry.
