On February 19, at Electronic assembly hall of ANAS Institute of Literature was held presentation ceremony of the newspaper «Ziya» published in the form of transliteration by Department of History and Press.
The event was opened by the vice-president of ANAS, director of ANAS Institute of Literature, academician Isa Habibbayli who highlighted «Ziya» newspaper as an important event of transliteration, which has a special place in the history of Azerbaijani press. He noted that, «Ziya» newspaper (1879-1880, Tbilisi) satisfying the needs of our people in receiving periodic data after the “Ekinchi” newspaper which left its mark in the history of the national pres and had set an important goal to reflect the realities of time.
The newspaper was published under the editorship of Said Unsizadeh.
Isa Habibbayli noted that, according to the Order of the President Ilham Aliyev dated January 12, 2004 the important steps were taken in area of a transliteration of domestic literary editions from Cyrillics into Latin.
From this point of view, carrying out a transliteration of our Arabic-language newspapers and magazines into Latin graphics is laudable.
Soon it is planned to make a transliteration of “Ziyayi-Qafqaziyya"and “Kashkul” newspapers. Also was noted that, the adviser and the editor of the book is the Honored journalist, the chairman of the board of the Azerbaijani press Aflatun Amashov.
I. Habibbayli reported that recently is going to hold the presentation of the “Molla Nasreddin” magazine published by the institute with the electronic version.
Then the research associate of Department of History and Press of the institute Mushtaba Aliyev made a report on “Ziya - a sanctuary of “Ekinchi”.
At the event head department of History and Press, Professor Asif Rustamli, head department of Modern Azerbaijani literature, Professor Zaman Askerli, PhD in philology Ayaz Vafaly and others made speech on edition of the “Ziya” newspaper wih transliteration and highly appreciated reprinting of classical samples of the domestic press with alphabet.
