Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) and Russian Fund for support of cultural and educational programs "Sodeystviye", Russian State Library and the regional libraries of the Russian Federation at the Central Scientific Library (CSL) hosted the event "What are read in modern Russia?" on December 18.
The event was attended by the Director of CSL Leyla Imanova, Head of the library sector of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism Latifa Mammadova, Head of the Russian Information Cultural Center in Baku Valentin Denisov, deputy director RLEPRF "Sodeystviye" Tatiyana Kozlova, Head of the training center of postgraduate and additional professional education of specialists of the Russian State Library Ekaterina Dudareva, representatives of universities, mass media and others.
Purpose is to acquaint the Azerbaijani public with Russian products, which will be presented in our country as well as to discuss topical issues of availability of books in Russian.
The guests informed the participants about the level of reading in Russian and about literature, which is given priority. So, besides classics, readers are treated to works by contemporary authors.
Also was mentioned about frequent difficulties which libraries meet today: a poor development of communications between local and foreign libraries, and also the financial difficulties arising, as a rule, because of a large number of unclaimed books.
It was stressed that, Azerbaijan and Russia for a long time formed a strong friendship, which, among other areas, also contributed to the development of the literature of our country.
Speakers noted that, today a large number of works of Azerbaijani authors translated into many languages; they became known abroad, including in Russia. At the same time, Russian literary are read in Azerbaijan, their works are published in Russian and translated into Azerbaijani.
It was reported that a wide range of readers in Azerbaijan prefer the literature in Russian. In addition the Russian sources, in our country, in Russian there is a local journal, science and literature.
At the conclusion of the event, Russian guests were donated the book "Koroglu", "Terrorism. Cause and effect" "Crimes of Armenian terrorist and bandit formations against humanity (XX-XXI centuries)" and others.
