December 26, 2016 at age of 93th died a famous historian, head of Department of the Institute Archaeology and Ethnography, correspondent member of ANAS Mashadihanim Neymatova.
Mashadihanim Neymatova was born on January 5, 1924 in the Zabrat II, Baku. In 1941, she graduated from high school in 1948, the Faculty of Oriental Studies ASU (present BSU).
In 1948 he entered the graduate school of the Institute of History of Azerbaijan, defended her PhD in 1954, and in 1968 -doktorskuyu thesis. In 2001 she was elected a corresponding member of ANAS.
The scientific activity began in 1953 at the Institute of History of the Azerbaijan SSR. Since 1993 he was the head of epigraphy group in the Institute of Archaeology.
Scientists engaged in research epigraphic monuments of the Middle Ages Azerbaijan also examined Muslim inscriptions on the territory of Armenia, Georgia and Dagestan.
During his scientific career researchers analyzed all the monuments on the territory of Azerbaijan, which show signs in Arabic, Persian and Turkish languages, enriching the Azerbaijani historiography of new and more accurate documents. She has collected more than 2,500 epigraphic monuments, and determined their value. She is the author of 12 books, 200 scientific articles, including 6-volume book "Collection of epigraphic monuments of Azerbaijan".
Mashadihanim Neymatova created in Azerbaijan epigraphy subject. On the basis of belonging to Turkic tribe’s images tamga, shaman’s tombstones dating back to the XIV-XIX centuries. Discovered scientist-historian in the territory of Zangezur, Lachin, Kalbajar, as well as Georgia was studied area of distribution of the Turkic tribes in the South Caucasus, and thus determined historical territory of Azerbaijan.
The scientist on the basis of Arabic-language inscriptions on sanctuaries Absherona of the 13-14th century (Buzovna, Shagan and Yeni Surakhani) has proved accommodation of the Syrian Christians on Absherona, their tyurkization and participation in formation of the Azerbaijani people.
In accordance with the Decree of the President on March 4, 2009 for outstanding achievements in the field of research epigraphic heritage of Azerbaijan scientist was awarded the order "Shohrat".
The memory of Meshadihanim Nematova, who lived a glorious life path, will always live in the hearts of those who knew her.
The scientist will be buried today in the II-m Zabrat cemetery.
