In the State historical and architectural memorial estate “Shirvanshahs' Palace Complex” by the organization of Institute of Folklore of ANAS held the action devoted to the Novruz holiday. At the event Director of the ANAS Institute of Folklore, Doctor of Philology Mukhtar Imanov spoke about the history and culture of Novruz holiday and noted that at the initiative of Azerbaijan's UN General Assembly adopted a resolution recognizing on 21 March as the International Day of Novruz. It was noted that Novruz - an ancient folk festival is a symbol of the arrival of spring. Novruz means the word “new day”. Novruz is included in UNESCO list on a non-material cultural heritage of mankind. Then action was continued by performance of folklore “Irs” ensemble, national songs and the festive performances devoted to Novruz were sung.
