Employees of the Institute of Geography commemorated the grave of prominent scientist Budag Budagov

ANAS Employees of the Institute of Geography commemorated the grave of prominent scientist-geographer, academician Budag Budagov and laid wreaths on.

Director of the Institute, academician Ramiz Mammadov told about the life, scientific, social, pedagogical and journalistic activity of B.Budagov, and about the scientist's contribution to the Azerbaijani geography. He noted that B.Budagov laid the foundation of geomorphology, landscape and toponymical science in Azerbaijan and also was interested in poetry, journalism, ecology, Islamic religion, problems of the Caspian Sea and other spheres.

Ramiz Mammadov said that, academician is the author of more than 1000 works, including 30 monographs, 4 dictionaries. The director of the institute noted that he made maps based on them.

Speaking about the events held at the Institute of Geography on the occasion of the anniversary of the prominent scientist, he noted that by the decision of the Academic Council of the institution, the Department of Landscape Studies was named in honor of B.Budagov, bust was installed in front of the department and by the executive authority of the Sabail district a was submitted petition to assign the name of the scientist to one of the streets of Baku.

Then, deputy director for scientific work of the Institute, Ph.D. in geography, assistant professor Hasanov Maharram, Ph.D. in geography - Rena Gashgay, Abduyev Mahammad, Ph.D. in geography Hagverdiyev Habil and others told about the life of B.Budagov, shared their memories of him.

The son of the scientist Vasif Budagov expressed gratitude to the administration of the institution for attention and respect for the memory of his father.
