The 90th jubilee of outstanding Kyrgyz writer Chingiz Aitmatov is celebrated in Baku

An event dedicated to the 90th jubilee of the great Azerbaijani writer, prominent public and political figure Chingiz Aitmatov has been held at the Baku office of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic-speaking countries (TurkPA).

Prior to the event, guests watched a photo exhibition called "Meeting with friends of Chingiz Aitmatov".

TURKPA Secretary General Altınbek Mamayusupov said that his works were published since 1952 in Kyrgyz and Russian languages, but he became famous among the readers at the Moscow Higher Literature Institute. He noted that Chingiz Aytmatov was awarded the highest honorary titles and awards and became the favorite writer in the USSR.

A.Mamayusupov noted that his works were translated into 76 languages ​​since the 60s of the last century.

Then Vice President of ANAS, academician Isa Habibbeyli spoke about the writer's contributions to the Turkish world literature. Many scholars who have received the Nobel Prize have been admired by Chingiz Aitmatov's works and have a great feeling of sympathy for him.

Chairman of the Writers' Union of Azerbaijan, People's Writer Anar, Head of Azerbaijan-Kyrgyzstan Friendship Group, MP Musa Guliyev, People's Poet Sabir Rustamkhanli, President of International Turkish Culture and Heritage Foundation Gunay Afandiyeva, Turkey's Ambassador to our country Erkan Özoral and others spoke about the life and creativity of the writer, his rich literary heritage, and contributions to the history of Turkish world literature.

Then, his son Askar Aytmatov expressed his gratitude to the organizers and participants of the event on behalf of the writer's family.

At the end, a video about life and creativity of prominent writer was demonstrated.
