1. S. Aghayeva is one of the first researchers of the medieval Azerbaijani music, including the ancient and medieval mugham art, and is the author of nearly 90 scientific works on this subject.

2. For the first time in the former Soviet Union and in Azerbaijan, as a result of the study of medieval written sources and manuscripts, S.Aghayeva defended her PhD dissertation devoted to medieval Azerbaijani scholar "Abdulqadir Maraghi and his musical-theoretical heritage (XIV-XV centuries)" (Moscow, 1979).

3. Since 1973, S. Aghayeva has been a participant and chairman of many international musical conferences and has introduced Azerbaijan's musical culture to the wider international community.
