Huseynov Ashraf Isgandar oglu
Huseynov Ashraf Iskander oglu was born on September 20, 1907 in Emirvary, Jebrail district.

In 1931 he graduated from the Azerbaijan State University.

He received his Ph.D. in Physics and Mathematics (1938), Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (1948) was awarded the title of Professor, in 1963 was elected Corresponding Member, and in 1968 - Active Member of the ANA.

The scientist was Dean and Head of the Department (1939-1965) at the Azerbaijan State University (now BSU), Director of the Institute of Cybernetics of the ANA (1965-1970), Academician-Secretary of the Department of Physical, Mathematical and Technical Sciences (1971-1980).

Huseynov Ashraf is one of the creators of modern mathematical school in Azerbaijan.

A.Huseynov is one of the 1st creators of the theory of nonlinear singular integral equations related to the substantiation, solution and investigation of numerous problems of underground gas dynamics, nonlinear mathematical physics, theoretical and applied mechanics. The scientist has formed a mathematical school and a tradition in this field. He carried out research in the field of boundary value problems of complex variable functions, potential theory, functional analysis, differential equations, created a function space associated with his name, proved existence and uniqueness theorems for nonlinear singular integral equations with a Cauchy kernel in space. For the first time he investigated the nonlinear Hilbert problem for analytic functions. The well-known theorem of I.I.Privalov in the space of periodic functions proposed by him. He posed and solved in a large number nonlinear boundary value problems in the theory of analytic functions, obtained serious results widely used in the theory of the existence of bounded solutions of singular integral equations with different kernels.

Jointly with students he significantly expanded his fundamental results in various topological principles, applied and used them in solving numerous problems of non-linear functional analysis and mathematical physics, and he created and developed such scientific directions as branching theory for solving nonlinear equations, methods for solving them , mixed problems for quasilinear, parabolic and hyperbolic equations, structural properties of singular operators, nonlinear singular integrals linear equations and the theory of nonlinear boundary value problems for analytic functions and a numerical solution of singular integral equations.

The scientist is the author of more than 80 scientific articles, textbooks. Under his leadership were defended over 60 candidate and doctoral dissertations.

In 1960 he was awarded the honorary titles "Honored Worker of Science" and "Honored Teacher".

Academician Huseynov Ashraf died in 1980 in Baku.
