Ibrahimov Ibrahim Ibish oglu
Ibrahimov Ibrahim was born on February 28, 1912 in Kargabazar village, Fizuli region. In 1935 he graduated from the Azerbaijan Pedagogical Institute. In 1939 he received the degree of PhD in Physics and Mathematics and in 1947 - Doctor of Physics and Mathematics. In 1959 he was elected as corresponding member and in 1968 – an active member of the ANAS.He was an associate professor at Azerbaijan State University (1939-1947), from 1946 until the end of his life he worked as head of the citywide scientific seminar on the theory of functions, head of the Department of ANAS Institute of Physics and Mathematics (1958-1959), Director of ANAS Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics (1959-1963), from 1963 until the end of his life - head of the theory the Department functions, then chairman of the Azerbaijan Mathematical Society (1977-1994).I.Ibrahimov created a school of the theory of functions in Azerbaijan. Investigated a system of successive derivatives of analytic functions and the integrity of some systems of functions constructed by analytic functions, obtained important scientific results. Laid the foundation for a number of studies in the field of the constructive theory of functions of a complex and real variable. Together with M.Kaldish he founded "The criterion for the convergence of Newton's interpolation process in the whole class of entire functions". Together with A.Gelfond he solved the “Problem about two points”, which was a major contribution to the theory of functions and the starting point of many further studies.I. Ibrahimov has great merits in the field of training and organization of higher mathematics in Azerbaijan.He is the author of over 200 scientific papers, a number of monographs and textbooks. Over 60 PhD and 10 Doctors of Science were prepared under his leadership.In 1986 he was awarded the Order of Friendship of Peoples and in 1988 he received the honorary title the Honored Scientist of the Azerbaijan USSR.Academician Ibrahim Ibrahimov died in 1994 in Baku.
