Basic activity directions	Biostratigraphic study of the sedimentary rocks of the Jurassic-Quaternary system for 4 groups of microfauna (foraminifera, ostracods, otolithic fish residues, small mollusks), construction of vertical distribution of fauna by sections, breakdown of sediments into bio- and lithostratons, faunistic substantiation of boundaries between strata, compilation of paleontological tables, correlation of stratones, development of local and regional schemes of dismemberment, restoration of the biominical conditions of paleobasins (depth, salinity, temperature, etc.).
Main scientific achievements	Biostratigraphic study of the Jurassic-Quaternary interval deposits, compilation of local and regional schemes of dismemberment, restoration of the biominical conditions of the drainage basins; biostratigraphic method, the identification of sediments of the South Caspian basin, involved in the mud volcanic process; biostratigraphic study of oil and gas exploration wells, development of local breakdown schemes.
