Basic activity directions

1.The distribution of radioactive substances and xenobiotics on environmental objects, the influence of ionizing radiation on the environment, radioecological problems associated with radiolytic transformations of xenobiotics and natural toxins, scientific foundations of radiation safety.

2. The study of radiation-chemical transformations in aqueous solutions, including in the presence of radioactive isotopes.

3. Development of effective methods for cleaning environmental objects contaminated with radioactive isotopes

4. Development of methods for deep cleaning of substances from heavy radionuclides used in low-background measurements and nuclear medicine.

5. Scientific aspects of radiation safety, radioactive pollution and influence of ionizing radiation on living beings, development of protection methods against these effects

6. Obtaining, research and studying of application possibilities of biological active compositions of synthetic and natural origin that demonstrate restorative properties in radiation injuries, and improving stability of organisms against the radiation

Main scientific achievements

1.The main factors characterizing the radioecological situation in all regions of the country (the mineral chemical composition of water sources, soil and vegetation, as well as contamination with radionuclides, xenobiotics, natural toxins of pathogenic microorganisms), the number and distribution of radioisotopes found in environmental objects were studied. The contamination of the surface of the soil cover with radionuclides during the periodic passage of the planet through radioactive dust clouds, fallout from polluted atmospheric flows, release of waste containing radionuclides into the environment as a result of the exploitation of mineral deposits, oil and gas production processes, their translocation, accumulation and migration by water currents, the influence of locally contaminated territories on the general radiation background. In these local areas, as well as in the mountains and foothills, relatively high levels of natural radionuclides were found. The effect of natural radionuclides on the components and properties of fertile soil cover, groundwater and surface water sources have studied by analytical studies. It has been established that the distribution and quantity of radionuclides in the main sources of drinking water and groundwater in our country do not exceed the requirements of international standards. The mineral-chemical composition of water sources, soil and vegetation of the country, the distribution of radioactive elements in rivers, reservoirs, land plots and vegetation have been studied. The results of carried out analyzes are published in the form of a single brochure-atlas.

2. There were obtained complexes of iron with rutin, quercetin, juglone, respectively isolated from Sophora (Sofora Japonica L.,) and walnut (Juglans regia L.,), there were revealed that they have radioprotective properties

3. It has been shown that extracts of Achillea nobilis, Crocus sativus L., Calendula officinalis and their modified forms with polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) have radioprotective properties and can be used as a radioprophylactic drugs

4. The anti-radiation properties of phytocompositions of dandelion Taraxacum officinale, burdock Arctium lappa l., St. John's wort Hypericum perforatum, calendula Calendula officinalis L. 5. Was carried synthesis out 4 - [(4-methyl-1-piperazinyl) methyl] -N- [4-methyl-3 - [[4- (3-pyridinyl) -2-pyrimidinyl] amino] phenyl] -benzamide and its complex with zinc, their anti-radiation properties are studied, on the basis of experimental data the possibility of their use in plant growing is recommended.
