Basic activity directions   Development of methods, tools and identification systems for intelligent processing of information obtained from objects of various purposes.
Main scientific achievements

-A multimodular intelligent system has been developed, which determines the choice of surgery in the field of orthopedics and its sequence of its course. The system makes a decision on a three-layer network, one of the modules is an electronic medical history, and the other is a data bank. 4 Eurasian and national patents received. The system is implemented in the Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics;

- A system for recognition and identification of texts in the old alphabet has been created. The system has passed the expert review at the Institute of Manuscripts. A patent (copyright certificate) issued;

-Network programs for diagnosing diseases of various classes have been developed on the basis of evidence-based medicine, which is a new direction in the field of health care. The programs received grants from the South Caucasus Health Information Project under the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) and the Canadian Society for International Health (CSIH), and a monograph in Azerbaijani and Russian has been published at their commission;

-Monograph "Intelligent Diagnostic Systems", aimed at solving problems in the development of diagnostic systems;

-Intelligent information systems have been developed which cover various areas of medicine: the syndrome of "acute abdomen" (18 surgical diseases are differentiated), the system of differential diagnosis of gynecological diseases and acute appendicitis used in the Nakhchivan city hospital, the system of differential diagnosis of chest pain syndrome, the system of diagnosis and prediction of the problem of miscarriages in women working in the oil refining industry;

-An intelligent system on a 5-layer neural fuzzy network has been developed for diagnosing and predicting the state of equipment in the oil extraction industry. The system has been tested in "Balakhani Oil" oil and gas production facility;

-An integrated expert decision-making system for oil and gas fields has been developed, the results of the work have been implemented in practical works at the SOCAR Research Institute (to assess reservoir properties and oil and gas saturation of the Korgoz-Kyzyltepe-Shongar field of the Absheron Peninsula of Azerbaijan);

-As a result of studying biological processes, a mathematical model of the evolutionary possibility of multiple reduplication has been constructed and analyzed;

-A multimodular intelligent information system for the differential diagnosis, prediction and monitoring of chemical poisoning (carbon monoxide and 15 chemicals with a similar prelab symptoms) has been developed. The system has been implemented at the Emergency Medical Aid Station in Baku and in the toxicology department of the Clinical Hospital No. 1 in Baku. The results have been published in English by LAMBERT Publishing House (Germany);

-A four-level expert system has been developed for determining the severity and future development of peritonitis;

-An expert system has been developed for determining the functional state of the thyroid gland;

-Mathematical morphology-based algorithms for the recognition of complex images on a plane have been developed, and the recognition of simple and accumulated nodules using ultrasound images of the thyroid gland and the mass of the nodule has been calculated;

-Works of Azerbaijani applied arts have been studied, a database of about 1,300 patterns and ornaments belonging to different regions and art schools has been created, algorithms and methods for their recognition have been proposed. Based on them, an intelligent information system has been developed. As a result, a Eurasian patent has been received;

-A mathematical model of the distribution of resources and consumers in the network has been built and the problem of asymptotic estimation of the load of information channels on resource carriers has been solved. The result was published as a preprint “Mathematical model of networks with shared resources” (42 p.);

-On the basis of variational calculations, a method for solving the problem of discrete geodesy has been proposed. The result has been published as a preprint “Discrete geodesic problem in logistics modeling” (61 p.);

-The monograph "Intellektual diaqnostika sistemləri" (271 p.) has been published. It won first place in the competition of the Ministry of Communications and High Technologies in the field of technology publications;

-Monograph "İnformasiya texnologiyaları: toksikologiyada diaqnostika və monitorinq" ( 232 p.) has been published;

-Modeling problems in medical and biological research have been studied and the results have been obtained for the epidemiology and distribution of skin mycosis in different regions. An electronic map of the distribution and prognosis of this disease in the Republic has been proposed;

-An intelligent information system of early diagnostics and forecasting of possible growths in the human body has been developed - a software package for recognition of complex images by the system has been proposed, and the concept of a predictor that determines the presence of a growth and its properties has been introduced;

-In order to ensure the safety of drinking water in the Jeyranbatan reservoir, which is an integral part of the eco- and biosystem, the physical and chemical, microbiological and organoleptic characteristics of its water are studied. Their comparative analysis with the indicators adopted as standards in the world, Europe, CIS and on the Absheron peninsula was carried out. Indicators not taken into account by these frameworks are considered independently and the impact of their variability on the water composition is considered both individually and cumulatively. The importance of control and, in particular, the correct setting of measurement intervals can provide an opportunity to directly raise the quality of water indicators to a high level;

-COVID-19, which is a problem of the present day, has been chosen as the scope of application of multi-agent systems. A conceptual model and architecture of one version of the system has been constructed. In the problem statement, the MAS model is used to monitor the time interval from infection of a person with the virus until recovery. To do this, the process is broken down into stages, and the connection between them is implemented through agents. The work focuses on reactive agents, studying their capabilities, functional loads, reception/transmission capabilities;

-An interdisciplinary approach to solving the problem of creating an electronic version of the catalogue of handmade Azerbaijani carpets and other carpet-making products reflecting the spiritual value of the people is proposed, for which mathematical methods, modern information technology and artificial intelligence are widely used. A multistage structure of intelligent information system has been developed for the carpet catalogue, including systematization by time and school, history of creation, origin of ornaments and patterns, weaving technology, connection with animals and plants;

-The use of artificial intelligence in healthcare makes solving the problems of people with disabilities even more realistic. For the visually impaired, this manifests itself in the form of smart walking sticks. Sign language recognition is available for people with speech/hearing impairments. Sign Language Recognition (SLR) allows computer vision to act as a bridge between the hearing/speech impaired and the rest of society. Since our goal is to investigate visual representation-based recognition problems, the material employed in the study is video and the "translation" of information from relevant texts into sign language. This is the development of a system using artificial intelligence and machine learning theories that builds communication connections for people with disabilities.
