Basic activity directions	Field of research: systematic study of the influence of natural and anthropogenic factors to the conditions of underground hydrosphere; identify space-time patterns and processes of formation of hydrological and geotechnical conditions in the relationship of natural and man-made systems; development of scientific bases of their prediction.
Main scientific achievements	Department members took part in different international funds (NATO, Royal Society of great Britain, Fulbright, the US State Department, Soros, Eurasia, UNESCO, УНТЦ, and others) within the frame of grant support, and also in investigations under the contacts with foreign companies and enterprises (Unical, BP, Exxon).
