Professor Aminağa Sadigov: “Challenges of Environmental and Climate Security Require the Application of Interdisciplinary Scientific Approaches”

The Ministry of Science and Education, in line with the priorities of state policy, is implementing a comprehensive action plan aimed at ensuring sustainable development, efficient use of alternative energy sources, and reducing environmental problems, among other strategic directions.

These remarks were made by Acting Rector of Sumgayit State University, corresponding member of ANAS, Professor Aminağa Sadigov at the international conference titled “Challenges in Energy, Food, Environment, and Climate Security”, held in Baku on October 15.

Professor Aminağa Sadigov stated that environmental and climate security are among the most pressing scientific and practical issues of the modern era. He emphasized that addressing these challenges requires the application of in-depth, interdisciplinary approaches at the global level. To this end, various scientific platforms are being established and large-scale projects are being implemented in a number of developed countries.

Professor Sadigov noted that under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, Azerbaijan has hosted major international initiatives not only in the economic, political, and cultural spheres, but also in the field of science and education. He cited the “Eurasian University Summit” held in Azerbaijan as a vivid example of this.

He added that in recent years, the Ministry of Science and Education has been carrying out systematic measures to enhance the organizational and scientific quality of both international and national-level scientific conferences held in the country. The Ministry supports the organization of conferences that meet international standards and scientific requirements, and as a result, the prestige and academic impact of such events in Azerbaijan have significantly increased.

Professor Sadigov emphasized that, in accordance with the priorities of state policy, the Ministry is implementing a comprehensive plan of measures aimed at sustainable development, efficient use of alternative energy sources, and the mitigation of environmental problems. To achieve these goals, the Ministry provides support for scientific research projects, international and national conferences, as well as various initiatives. At the same time, relevant updates are being made to textbooks and curricula in secondary and higher education systems to integrate the principles of sustainable development into teaching.

“The Ministry of Science and Education has funded a number of projects in recent years to stimulate scientific activity and promote research in priority areas,” said Professor Sadigov. He underlined that the Ministry provides financial and institutional support to research conducted by numerous scientific institutions, including the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies, in strategic fields such as environment, climate change, artificial intelligence, and information technologies.

Professor Aminağa Sadigov also stated that today’s conference serves as an important platform for dialogue and collaboration between the scientific community, government agencies, and the private sector. He expressed confidence that the discussions held within the framework of the conference would contribute to the development of new scientific approaches and the preparation of practical recommendations in the areas of energy, food, environmental, and climate security.
