| Basic scientific achievements | First in Azerbaijan scientific-research work in areas of medical and sosial aspects of blindness and disability due to glaucoma was conducted that led to creation of methodical recommendations on prevention of population disability and blindness due to glaucoma and medical social rehabilitation of glaucoma patients. Incidence and clinical-epidemiological characteristics of primary disability due to glaucoma in different groups of Azerbaijan population were evaluated. Modern methods of surgical treatment of glaucoma were presented. Non-invasive clinical effective method of treatment of vascularized vitreal tracts and complexes by special radiation of new type of quantum generator copper vapor laser was invented.
Mobile ophthalmological clinic with modern diagnostic and surgical equipment was created to organize and manage free qualified ophthalmic care in several remote regions of Azerbaijan, to prevent eye diseases and arrange professional training of local ophthalmologists. It could be valued as one of the way of prevention of blindness and disability due to eye pathology in Azerbaijan and other countries. National Program called “Detection and accounting of glaucoma and other eye diseases in different regions of Azerbaijan” is conducted currently. |
