There have been done scientific-research works concerning the rare species belonging to the flora and fauna biodiversity of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, their current position, protection and efficient usage.

The current status of higher plants of the flora of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic have been studied, floristic spectrum of higher plants of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic have been prepared, current status of the species of existing area have been investigated, as medicinal or technical utilization potentials of more than 700 plant species of more than thousand plant species with plenty natural resources have been revealed, endemic, rare and threatened plant species have been specified and prepared an action plan for their conservation. More than 100 plant species have been added to the flora of the region, 3 species of them were new to the flora of Caucasus and the distribution and natural reserves of poisonous and officinal medicinal plants have been identified.

The current status of the vertebrate animals belonging to the fauna biodiversity of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic have been studied, fauna spectrum of the vertebrate animals have been prepared, current status of the rare species have been investigated, Red Book of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic has been published, there is also given recommendations with regard to protection and restoration of rare species. There have been added more than 10 vertebrate animal species that, 1 of them was new of the Caucasus. There were taken photos of leopard, porcupine, mouflon, bezoar goat, wild cat and other species for the first time by phototrap.

Recently there are carried on investigations with regard to exploring applied seemly species of the flora and fauna biodiversity.
