Majidov Balababa Faraj oglu
Majidov Balababa Faraj oglu was born on March 12, 1912 in the village of Pirshagi in Baku. In 1935 he graduated from the Medical Faculty of the Azerbaijan State Medical Institute.

B. Majidov defended his dissertation in philosophy (1945) and doctor of sciences (1957). In 1952 he was elected a senior scientific worker and was awarded the title of professor (1958). He was elected a corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1968).

B. Madjidov worked as a physician in Bilasuvar district (1935-38), deputy director, director of the Institute of Scientific Research Epidemiology, Microbiology and Hygiene (1938-1946), and later the First Deputy Minister of Health of the Republic (1946). Deputy Chief of Science at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan (1948-1950), Head of the Epidemiology Department of the Institute of Epidemiology, Microbiology and Hygiene (1950-1953), Director of the Institute (1953-1968), Chief Medical Officer of the Republic. He was rector of the Azerbaijan Medical Institute named after Narimanov (1968-1972). From 1972 to 1975, he served as the Head of Epidemiology, Head of Radiation Microbiology Laboratory at ET Institute of Virology, Microbiology and Hygiene.

The main direction of his scientific activity on epidemiology was the study of the role of rodents in the spread of certain diseases, the study of the epidemiology of bacterial dysentery and salmonellosis.

B. Majidov is one of the authors of the Concept of Relationship and Influence of Infectious Diseases to Environmental Characteristics in Different Regions of the Republic. He is the author of over 110 scientific articles, 6 monographs, 6 scientific booklets, 5 scientific bulletins, 2 bibliographies and prospectus. The scientist has made scientific reports at numerous international conferences, congresses and symposiums. Under his guidance 8 doctoral and 14 doctoral theses were prepared.

He was a member of the Management Board of the Scientific Society of Epidemiologists, Microbiologists and Infectionists, Chairman of the Scientific Society of Epidemiologists, Microbiologists and Infectionists, Chairman of the Scientific Council of the Ministry of Health of Azerbaijan He was a member of the editorial board of the Journal, the journal Microbiology, Epidemiology and Immunology.

B. Majidov was awarded the Order of the Red Labor Flag, three times the Order of Honor and medals, and was awarded the honorary title of Honored Doctor of Azerbaijan (1960) and Honored Scientist (1964). One of the streets of Baku is named after Balababa Majidov.

Corresponding member of ANAS Balababa Majidov died on July 3, 1975 in Baku.
