Mammadov Khudu Surkhay oglu
K.Mammadov was born in 1927 in Marzili village of Agdam region. In 1951 he graduated from Geological-geography faculty of Azerbaijan State University (now Baku State University).

K.Mammadov was a PhD in the USSR AS Crystallography Institute in 1955, gained a scientific degree of Doctor of Geology and Mineralogy in 1969, a professor of science in 1973, and in 1976 a correspondent Member of the Azerbaijan Academy of Sciences (AAS).

Since 1952, K.Mammadov has been working at the Institute of Inorganic and Physical Chemistry of the AAS as the Head of the Structural and Chemical Laboratory.

K.Mammadov's research has revealed crystalline structures of cement silicates, borates, carbonates, phosphates and some semiconductor compounds. Scientist created the concept of "building unit" and developed the crystallochemistry theory of cement silicates. He found the "triple peak" theorem to research Paterson function, and learned the crystal structure of more than 50 complexes of organic compounds.

X.Mammadov got acquainted with the famous physicist and cristallologist John Bernella III symposium on the structure of international cement silicates, conducted a one-year research in his laboratory in London in 1966 and determined the structure of many silicate compounds.

His services are great in promoting scientific results. He is the creator of the Crystallography and Crystallochemistry School in Azerbaijan.

Mammadov has long been a presenter of "Science and life" broadcast on Azerbaijani TV.

Mammadov is the author of more than 340 scientific works, including 3 monographs.

Numerous PhDs and doctors of sciences have been prepared under the leadership of Mammadov.

Scientific-organizational activity of Kh.Mammadov was highly appreciated by the government and was honored with Honorary Scientist of Azerbaijan, was awarded with the Order of Honor and medals.

Corresponding member of ANAS Khudu Mammadov died in 1988 in Baku.
