Rustamova Azada was born on July 18, 1932 in Baku. In 1951 she graduated from the Faculty of Oriental Studies at Azerbaijan State University. In 1953 she become PhD student of the Institute of Oriental Studies in Moscow. In 1956, she defended PhD on Fizuli’s poem “Leyli and Mejnun”, in 1971 she received the degree of Doctor of Science, and in 1990 the title of Professor. In 2001 she was elected as a corresponding member of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences.
Since 1957, she worked at the Institute of Literature of Azerbaijan Academy of Sciences, first as a junior researcher and later as a senior researcher. She led the departments of medieval Azerbaijani literature and Nizamivaniya. The history of medieval Azerbaijani poetry, genre, methodology and style of our literature, folk art, the problem of heritage, humanistic-human ideals of classical artists, religious and Sufi-pantheistic, views in poetry and other issues were resolved in the research scientist. She is the author of 15 books and 300 scientific articles. Rustamova Azada was awarded the Order "Badge of Honor" for her merits in literary, she was awarded the title of Honored Scientist.
