Yolchiyev Yagub Yamin was born on December 21, 1938 in Urud village of Sisian region of Zangazur district. He graduated with honors from the Biological Faculty of Baku State University (1964).

He defended his PhD thesis on Biology (1971) and Doctor of Sciences (1984). In 2001 he received his professor's title and was elected as a corresponding member of ANAS. Head of laboratory of biochemical bases of parasitic relations, since 2002 till the end of his life he worked as deputy director for scientific work of the Institute of Zoology of ANAS. He was chairman of the Dissertation Council at the Institute of Zoology of ANAS.

Under Y.Yolchiyev's leadership, for the first time in Azerbaijan, a new scientific direction was developed to research the molecular and biochemical bases of essential parasitic relationships for the development of zoology, including parasitology, the problems of parasitic relationships at the cellular and organism level, as well as biochemical have been studied in the form of mutual effects.

Y.Yolchiyev has made great achievements in this field by studying the immunological basis of parasitic lifestyle. The biochemical composition of various stages of coccidia (Eimeria, Sarcocystis genus), identifies the biochemical changes occurring in the activity of proteins, aminate, Krebs circulation components and enzymes involved in their metabolism during eymeriosis and sarcosporidiosis of domestic chickens, sheep and goats and etc.

He has studied the species composition, ecology of species of poultry, pigs, rodents, domestic varieties, domestic varieties, biochemical and cariological indicators, parasitic disease tolerance, and recommendations for combating coccidiosis disease in agricultural animals.

He is the author of more than 100 scientific articles and 3 monographs. He attended more than 20 congresses, symposiums and conferences on zoology, biochemistry and veterinary have been held in Azerbaijan and abroad.

Under the scientific guidance of Y.Yolchiyev, 7 PhDs, 1 PhD thesis were defended.

Y.Yolchiev was a member of Editorial Board of the “Journal of Applied Biological Sciences” journal founded by the International Nobel Publishing House as a famous coccidiologist scientist.

He was awarded the Order of “Glory”, “Labor Veteran” Medal and a number of honorary decrees.
