Zulfugarli Jumshud Ismayil oglu

Zulfugarli Jumshud Ismayil oghlu was born January 30, 1905 in Iravan. He graduated from the Department of Nature of the Pedagogical Faculty of the Azerbaijan State University (1930).

Received Ph.D. in Chemistry in 1940, Dr. Chemistry in 1963, and Professor in 1960.

In 1968 he was elected a corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the Azerbaijan SSR.

He worked as an associate professor of the Department of Inorganic Chemistry at the Azerbaijan State University (1945-1957), dean of the Faculty of Chemistry (1951-1952), head of the Inorganic Chemistry Department (1957-1980).

Under the leadership of Zulfugarli, the distribution of micronutrients in different natural sites of Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, Georgia, Dagestan and Volgograd region was studied. As a result of the research, very valuable information was obtained on the nature of the micronutrient distribution in the caustobiolites, surface waters and rocks, their form of association and their correlation. Depending on the age of the oil, irregularities in the interaction between its organic and heterogeneous components, as well as the elements taken in pairs, have been discovered.

J.Zulfugarli obtained very interesting information about porphyrins in the oils of different regions and their metalkomole complexes, and advanced hypotheses on the origin of these substances.

The importance of research conducted in the field of semiconductor chemistry under the leadership of J.Zulfugarli was important. A considerable number of new compounds have been synthesized from these compounds. As a result of their comprehensive study, it became clear that these compounds with semiconductor properties can be widely used.

An original method of iodine removal from bottled water was developed by J.Zulfugarli.

J.Zulfugarli has more than 300 published scientific works, including 4 monographs.

The origin of chemical terminology in the mother tongue is connected with the name of J.Zulfugarli.

He was awarded the honorary title of Honored Scientist.

Also, was awarded the "Red Star" order, "For the service of war", "Victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War", "For the protection of the Caucasus", "For the acquisition of Budapest" and "For the acquisition of Vienna".

Corresponding member of ANAS Jumshud Zulfugarli died in 1982 in Baku.
