Abdullayev Jahangir Mammad oglu
Abdullayev Jahangir Mammad oglu was born on May 1, 1901 in Ganja city.

He studied in classical gymnasium in the Ganja city, and graduated from medical faculty of Azerbaijan State University in 1925. He continued his post-diploma education in Leningrad (Saint-Petersburg) in 1926-1932.

J.Abdullayev defended his doctoral dissertation in 1936 and was awarded the title of doctor of medical sciences and professor.

J.Abdullayev was elected  as a corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR In 1959,and an active member in 1968.

J.Abdullayev started his career as an assistant of the Department of Hospital Therapy of the Azerbaijan State Medical Institute (1932) and worked as the head of that department (1943-1973).

Under the guidance of J.Abdullayev, the Cardiological Department was established in the Scientific Research Institute of Clinical Experimental Medicine (1961).

J.Abdullayev was one of the prominent scientists in the field of cardiology in the international area. He was the author and co-author of more than 150 scientific works, including 10 monographs and textbooks. 13 doctors of sciences, 47 candidates of sciences, consisting of national cadres, have been prepared under his leadership and guidance.

Under the guidance of J.Abdullayev, for the first time in our republic electrocardiograph was applied in practical practice of a doctor.

J.Abdullayev was a member of the International Therapists Association (1960), a member of the International Association of Cardiologists (1963), chairman of the Society of Cardiology of the Republic of Azerbaijan (1966), gave the idea of ​​establishing the Scientific-Research Institute of Cardiology of the Azerbaijan Republic, and developed plans for this idea.

J.Abdullayev was honored with honorary title of Honored Scientist (1940) and was awarded with the Order of Red Banner of Labor. The Scientific-Research Institute of Cardiology of the Ministry of Health of the Azerbaijan Republic has been named after him.A scholarship named after Academician J.Abdullayev was presented to the students who are distinguished in education at Azerbaijan Medical University.

J.Abdullayev died on January 4, 1973 in Baku.
