Huseynov Heydar Najaf oglu
Active member of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences Huseynov Heydar Najaf oglu was born on April 3, 1908 in Erivan.

In 1927-1931 H.Huseynov was a student of the Pedagogical Faculty and Faculty of Oriental Studies of the Azerbaijan Pedagogical Institute, perfectly mastered Arabic and Persian languages.

In 1936-1940 G.Huseynov was the director of the Institute of Encyclopedias and Dictionaries of the Azerbaijani branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences. In 1939 he defended his thesis "Philosophical views of Mirza Fatali Akhundov" for the degree of Candidate of Philosophy in Tbilisi. In 1944 he received the title of Professor.

In 1939-1945 G. Huseynov was deputy chairman of the Azerbaijan branch of the Academy of Sciences of SSR, 1945-1950 - vice-president of the Academy of Sciences of the Azerbaijan SSR, at the same time chairman of the Department of Social Sciences of the Academy of Sciences. In 1945 he was elected as active member of the Academy of Sciences of the Azerbaijan SSR.

In 1939-1945 G.Huseynov was the deputy chairman of the Azerbaijan branch of the Academy of Sciences of the SSR, 1945-1950. - Vice-President of the Academy of Sciences of the Azerbaijan SSR, at the same time, Chairman of the Department of Social Sciences of the Academy of Sciences. In 1945 he was elected as active member of the Academy of Sciences of the Azerbaijan SSR.

The scientist made great contributions to the development of historical and philosophical science.

G.Huseynov laid the foundation of the Azerbaijan School of Translation. The scientist was one of the editors of the Russian-Azerbaijani and Azerbaijani-Russian dictionaries.

H.Huseynov is the author of studies on Bahmanyar, Nizami Ganjavi, Fizuli, A. Bakikhanov, Mirza Kazim bey, MF Akhundov, Hasan bey Zardabi.

The scientist was repeatedly awarded with the order and medals. Heydar Huseynov was awarded the State Prize for the 4 volume "Russian-Azerbaijani Dictionary" and twice became the winner of the Stalin Prize (in 1948 and 1950).

Active member of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences Heydar Huseynov died on August 15, 1950 in Baku.
