Ibrahimov Mirza Ajdar oglu
Active member of ANAS Ibrahimov Mirza was born on October 15, 1911 in Eve near the town of Sarab of South Azerbaijan. M.Ibrahimov entered the biennial preparatory department of the Azerbaijan State Research Institute, which he graduated in 1933. After a short break in 1937 M.Ibrahimov graduated from the postgraduate course at the Leningrad Institute of Oriental Studies of the USSR Academy of Sciences and in 1937 defended his thesis on “The life and work of J. Mammadguluzade” - the founder of the famous journal “Molla Nasraddin”.In 1945, when the Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan was founded he was elected as active member of the Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan. M.Ibrahimov was the editor of the newspaper Suret in Nakhchivan (1933-1934), Director of the Azerbaijan State Opera and Ballet Theater, Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Council (1954-1958), Chairman of the Committee for Solidarity of Asian and African Countries with the Soviet Union (from 1977), Director of the Nizami Institute of Literature after ANAS (1950), head of the Department (1960-1993) and worked in other positions.The main works by M.Ibrahimov are historical and theoretical examples of oral folklore, classical and modern Azerbaijani literature, problems of revival, in general, the study of problems of cultural science, including the publication of classical heritage and scientific and theoretical literature. These features are especially noticeable in his books and literary-critical articles such as The Great Democrat (1939), Life and Literature (1947).M.Ibrahimov took an active part in the preparation and publication of multivolume editions of our classics, in the writing and publication of books “History of Literature”, in the preparation of highly qualified personnel in the field of literary criticism. He was a laureate of state prizes of the USSR (1950) and the Azerbaijan SSR (1965), a laureate of the Nehru International Prize (1979), Honored Artist of Azerbaijan (1941), People's Writer (1961), Hero of Socialist Labor (1981).Academician Mirza Ibrahimov died on December 17, 1993 in Baku and was buried in the Alley of Honor.
