Active member of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, Talibzadeh Kamal was born on August 14, 1923 in Baku.
In 1945, K.Talibzadehgraduated from the philological faculty of Azerbaijan State University. He was a graduated from Institute of Language and Literature after the Nizami Academy of Sciences of the Azerbaijan SSR (1945-1948), defended his PhD on philology (1949), doctoral (1965) and then received the title of Professor (1972). In 1980 he was elected as a corresponding member and in 1989 – an active member of the Academy of Sciences of the Azerbaijan SSR. He was the head of the department at the Institute of Literature after Nizami of ANAS (1952-1969, 1981-1994), deputy director for scientific work (1960-1981) and also served as director (1968). The scientist is the author of numerous articles and books devoted to the problems of classical heritage, literary connections, literary history and textual issues. “Abbas Sakhhat” (1955), “Gorky and Azerbaijan” (1959), “Azerbaijan Critics of the 20th Century” (1966), “Literary Heritage and Heirs” (1974), “History of Azerbaijan Literary Criticism” (1984), “Criticism and critics ”(1989),“ Selected Works (in 2 volumes) ”(1994) and other books of the scientist were highly appreciated by the scientific community. K.Talibzadehhad great merits in the creation and publication of 3 volumes of the History of Azerbaijani Literature (1957-1960), 2 volumes of books of the History of Azerbaijani Soviet Literature (1967). One of the authors and editors of the 7th volume of the history of Azerbaijani literature. In 1982, K.Talibzadehwas awarded the title "Honored Worker of Science." In 1986, the scientist was awarded the Azerbaijan State Prize for his work “The History of Azerbaijani Literary Criticism” (1986), which highlights the history of national critical thought. He was also awarded the medal "For Distinction in Labor" (1970) and the Order "Shohrat". Academician Kamal Talibzadehdied on January 20, 2006 in Baku and was buried in the Alley of Honor. |
