Main scientific achievements

Scientific research works on alternative energy begun from 1974. Research works aimed at resolving the local technical issues in the first period was dominated. In connection with the next energy crisis started in the world in 1977,  the using of turning of solar and wind energy by hydrogen carrier  have been carried out and the following important results of scientific researchers were received.

-Designed, created and climatic conditions Baku researched a number of individual and combined solar and wind energy projects, which include:

- solar photovoltaic and wind energy plants for production of high-purity hydrogen and oxygen from water under pressure (the installation applied for heat treatment of small-sized jewelry); - anticorrosive protection systems for underground metal equipments from electrochemical corrosions, and electrical power supplied from the photovoltaic and wind power sources (used for corrosion protection of gas pipeline Sumgait-Karadag, 300 m in length and 3 km, respectively);

system for heating greenhouse type, fed, simultaneously from two wind units (system used to heat the greenhouses of the closed type with an area of 150 m2);

-various modifications of the separate and combined solar and wind installations for heat supply and hot water supply;

- thermo chemical reactor and dosing systems for hydrogen and combustible gas mixtures (H2 + CO + CH4, etc.) on the high-temperature solar installation with parabolic concentrator (at the reactor and obtained 4 patents);

- optimizing device, as well as tracking systems and security systems of alternative energy sources. (On most of these devices and systems received copyright certificates of the USSR and patents of the Russian Federation and Azerbaijan);

- first developed a mathematical model of solar electrolysis plants for production of hydrogen and oxygen from water under pressure, as well as solar parabolic concentrator with high temperature to produce flammable gas mixture of biomass and organic waste;

-Numerous research works have been carried out on the detection of the possibility of using solar and wind energy in Azerbaijan. A cadastre has been applied on wind and solar mode for all the area of Azerbaijan, especially Absheron peninsula and Baku city. In this case, the possible wind modes have been determined in vertical extrapolation, as well as heights up to 2 km, for the first time. It has been developed the solar energy device with 2 modular parabolic concentrators in order to use solar energy heat which is economically and ecologically favorable in processing of crude oil in mining conditions. It has been carried out the experiments in 400-900 Wt./ range of solar radiation in climatic condition of Baku and defined both seasonal and the average annual parameters of the device.

-It has been carried out the research works on the converting wind energy to compressed air and then obtaining electric energy based on it. The combined system is formed based on Solar and Wind energy devices, for hot water supply in villages and country houses in the climatic conditions in Absheron. Some positive results have been obtained based on 3-year experience and researches are being continued in the field.

- Overall 520 articles have been published in local and foreign journals within 1974-2019, more than 107 certificates of authorship of former USSR, as well as patents of  Russian Federation, the Eurasian Patent Organization and Azerbaijan Republic have been obtained  by the employees of laboratory. It is intended to develop the solar cadastre of Absheron peninsula and use the solar energetic devices in villages and country houses. Research is being conducted on methods for economic and environmental assessment, the prospects for producing hydrogen and hydrogen-containing gases (H2, CH4, CO, etc.) from organic waste and biomass by means of solar energy.
