Archaeological excavations held in Damcıli cave

Archaeological excavations are carried out in the world-famous Damcıli cave in the territory of the The State Historical and Cultural Preserve "Avey" of the Gazakh region. The expedition is based on a trilateral memorandum signed between ANAS Institute of Archeology and Ethnography, the State Historical and Cultural Reserve "Avey" and the Tokyo University of Japan.

The purpose of the excavation is to identify objects and tools of the Stone Age, the ancient settlement and to find out that, the people living there were local residents, as well as to determine the connection between the Neolithic and Mesolithic.

Archaeological excavations are carried out under the responsibility of Professor Yoshihiro Nishiaki from the University of Tokyo. ANAS Institute of Archeology and Ethnography - Mansur Mansurov, Yagub Mammadov, Ulviyya Heydarova and Ajdar Babayev are also take part in the excavations.
