In order to improve the quality of seismic surveys conducted on the territory of the Republic, Republican Seismological Survey Center of ANAS is going to install 22 more seismic stations. 14 of the stations will be installed within the project “Caucasus Expansion Network” to be located in the coastal areas along the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea and 6 around mud volcanoes.

Currently, there are 35 permanent seismic stations of the RSSC in the country. In addition, there are 17 stationary basalt seismic stations in the “Caucasus crossing” project, as well as 10 stations recording earthquake tremors. During data exchange at the RSSC, 3 seismic stations of Georgia and 2 seismic stations of Turkey are used in the border area.

After the installation of new stations, a total of 84 seismic stations will operate in the country.
