A project led by a young scientist from the Institute of Information Technology was awarded a gold medal in the competition

As it is known, IX Republican competition "Scientists of the Future" was held on February 11-13 in the framework of the International Science and Engineering Exhibition. The students presented their projects in mathematics, physics, astronomy, chemistry, biology, medicine and health, ecology and environmental management, engineering and computer science. In total, 187 projects of 370 have reached up to final stage.

The Azeri Dactyl Alphabet project prepared by the 10th grade students of the “Lyceum of Talents” under Baku State University - Mohammad Isazadeh and Kanan Gasimov, took first place in the category "Computer Science". The project, awarded with a gold medal, was initiated by the scientific leadership of the Institute of Information Technology of ANAS Yusif Imamverdiyev.

There are 466 million hearing impairments and 500 million people with speech defects in the world, and the number of people in Azerbaijan is 310,000. It is noted that this application, which consists of 3 parts, supports Android and iOS operating systems. The first part of the program includes the letters of the Azerbaijani Dactyl alphabet in the "Alphabet" section. The section "Expressions" contains all the expressions used in gesture language. Through a special program written in the third section, where artificial intelligence is used, hearing and speech can easily reach the minds of people with hearing impairments.

Note that, Ruslan Bayramov, the 11th grade student of the lyceum named after academician Zarifa Aliyeva, was honored with second place by project "Plant Disease & Cause Detection using Deep Learning" supervised by Yadigar Imamverdiyev, Ph.D., Assoc. Prof., and chief department of the Institute of Information Technology.
