Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics of ANAS hosted for an event dedicated to March 8 - International Women's Day.
Opening the event, director of the enterprise, corresponding member of ANAS Misir Mardanov spoke about the history of this remarkable day. He noted that at the Congress of Women's Socialist International held in Copenhagen, Denmark, in 1910, the International Women's Day was commemorated on March 8 as a tribute to 129 women who were killed in New York at the invitation of Clara Setkin.
Emphasizing the importance of women's rights and freedoms in our country, Mardanov said that Azerbaijan joined an international convention in 1995 aimed at eliminating all forms of discrimination against women. In addition, he recalled the establishment of the State Committee on Women's Issues in 1998 (now the State Committee for Family, Women and Children), saying that Azerbaijani women are actively involved in the socio-political life of the republic.
Then, Associate Professor of the University of Culture and Art, Honored Actor Azad Shukurov congratulated the staff of the enterprise.
