The geographer studied the etymology of the Caspian lake in Turkey

A leading researcher of the Institute of Geography named after academician Hasan Aliyev of ANAS, PhD in Geology and Mineralogy Rashid Fataliyev has conducted research on the etymology of the Caspian lake in Turkey during the quarantine period in connection with the coronavirus pandemic. The scientist explains the existence of the word "Caspian" in the names of two geographical objects in the same specific place by the fact that they are inextricably linked with the Caspian tribes, and speculates on where and how the Caspians came to these places.

The researcher notes that each toponym is a coded memory page of history, their discovery and study are important in the correct writing of our history and the formation of our national and spiritual values: “Therefore, there is a serious need for multinisciplinary research of ancient toponyms”, he stated.
