Coronavirus can mutate and, as a result of changes, its more aggressive form appears. This opinion was shared by the academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Director of the Center for Immunology and Molecular Biomedicine of Moscow State University, Professor Mikhail Paltsev.

According to him, the mutation occurs for two reasons. First, collective immunity is being developed and the virus needs to adapt to this. The second is hot weather. In summer, as a rule, people have increased immunity and the incidence of airborne infections decreases. Moreover, the mutation occurs not in the RAS of the virus, but in its protein receptor, and this casts doubt on the effectiveness of the vaccines created today.
