Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

On December 18, the President of ANAS, Academician Isa Habibbeyli met with the President of the Association of Academies and Societies of Sciences in Asia (AASSA), Professor Ahmed Nuri Yurdusev.

In the meeting held at the Presidium of ANAS, Academician Isa Habibbeyli said that in recent years, the Academy has been elected as a member of several international organizations that play a key role in making important decisions in world science, with the first such organization being the Association of Academies and Societies of Sciences in Asia (AASSA). He mentioned that in the past two years since ANAS became a member of AASSA, significant steps have been taken to expand cooperation between the organizations. He added that our country was represented at the General Assembly meeting of the Association of Academies and Societies of Sciences in Asia, held in Manila, the capital of the Philippines and that the leadership of AASSA also participated in the international scientific conference held recently in Baku on the topic of “Literature of Asian Peoples: Traditions and Modern Tendencies”. The head of the Academy expressed confidence that within the framework of ANAS’s partnership with AASSA, scientific relations with China in the field of humanities would be strengthened, and new ties would be established with Malaysia and Singapore.

Academician Isa Habibbeyli mentioned that scientists from Türkiye, Pakistan, China, India, South Korea, Vietnam, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan participated in the conference. He stated that with this event, ANAS would contribute to the development of literary ties among Asian peoples and to the expansion of cooperation within the framework of AASSA.

In turn, Professor Ahmed Nuri Yurdusev, the President of the Association of Academies and Societies of Sciences in Asia, underlined that after ANAS became a member of AASSA, it has played an active role in the organization’s activities, closely participated in the adoption of important decisions, and contributed with its suggestions.

The scholar, expressing his pleasure at being in our country to attend the international scientific conference on “Literature of Asian Peoples: Traditions and Modern Tendencies”, mentioned that the event has contributed to the establishment of new cooperation ties among experts from Asian countries. He also underlined that by organizing such a significant conference, the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences has contributed to filling the gap in the humanitarian field within AASSA.

During the meeting, proposals were made to expand opportunities for joint cooperation.

The meeting was also attended by the academic secretary of ANAS, Academician Arif Hashimov, the Head of the Foreign Relations and International Scientific Organizations Affairs Department of the Presidium administration of ANAS, Esmira Alirzayeva, and the deputy head of the same department, Samir Sattarov.
