Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

The President of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, Academician Isa Habibbeyli, met with Aliaksandr Birukou, Vice-President Journals, Eastern Europe Extended at Springer Nature.

During the meeting, Academician Isa Habibbeyli said that this year marks the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences. He emphasized that ANAS has played a significant role in the development of our country and in making science a part of public life. Informing the guest about the reforms ongoing in Azerbaijani science, Academician Isa Habibbeyli underlined that ANAS is currently conducting research in the fields of humanities, social sciences, and seismology.

Academician Isa Habibbeyli underlined that in recent years, more active representation of Azerbaijani science in the international scientific community has been one of the priority directions, and cooperation with the Springer Nature can make a significant contribution to expanding activities in this direction. The head of ANAS emphasized that the publication of monographs and scientific articles by our scientists in a prestigious publisher like Springer Nature would be beneficial for increasing the global reputation of Azerbaijani science and for increasing citations of our scientific research.  

Besides this, the sides discussed issues related to the publication by Springer Nature of a popular science book about the National Academy of Science and a monograph dedicated to the life and work of the great Azerbaijani poet Nizami Ganjavi.

Then, Aliaksandr Birukou, Vice-President Journals at Springer Nature provided information about the organization he represents. He noted that the publisher offers open access options, enabling both authors and readers to have greater accessibility to articles and publications, thereby ensuring the preservation of science’s prestige in society. Aliaksandr Birukou also highlighted the publisher’s capabilities, the requirements for article submissions to journals, the publication of monographs, and several other important points.

The meeting included extensive discussions on opportunities for joint activities in the fields of humanities and social sciences.

Then, gifts were presented to the guest, and commemorative photos were taken.

Afterwards, the representative of Springer Nature toured the Presidium building of ANAS.

The meeting was also attended by Academician Ali Abbasov, Director General of the Institute of Control Systems, Aghasi Malikov, Vice-rector of Baku Engineering University and corresponding member of ANAS, Esmira Alirzayeva, PhD in Biology and Head of the Foreign Relations and International Organizations Department of the Presidium administration of ANAS, Agahuseyn Shukurov, PhD in Philology, associate professor and Head of the Public Relations, Press, and Information Department, and Fariz Imranov, PhD in Mathematics and Head of the “Electronic Academy” Department.
