Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

Azerbaijan’s well-known artist, Professor of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Afyon Kocatepe University of Türkiye, Mammad Shirzad donated several of his works to the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences on the occasion of its 80th anniversary.  

In this regard, Professor Mammad Shirzad addressed a letter to the President of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, Academician Isa Habibbeyli. In the letter, he stated:

“The large-scale constructive works currently carried out under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, have created conditions not only for scientific advancements but also for significant achievements in the field of fine art. These important processes in Azerbaijan are accompanied by the state’s high attention and care toward the growth of science and culture. In this situation, it is a moral duty of every Azerbaijani intellectual to see and appreciate the reforms implemented at ANAS under your leadership, as well as your attention and sensitivity toward the study and promotion of science and culture.”

Among the works donated to ANAS by Professor Mammad Shirzad, who honorably represents Azerbaijani art and culture worldwide, are the large panel “Bizim torpaq” (“Our Land”), the painting “Üzümçü qızlar” (“Grape-Gathering Girls”), several portrait artworks, and paintings on the theme of Georgia.

On this occasion, the President of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, Academician Isa Habibbeyli met with Professor Mammad Shirzad and expressed his gratitude to the artist for donating his works to the Academy.

In turn, artist Mammad Shirzad said that he became acquainted with the artworks by ANAS employees and highly appreciated the organization of exhibitions for them at the Academy.

For his contributions to the promotion and development of Azerbaijani fine art, Professor Mammad Shirzad was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation by ANAS.

Academician Isa Habibbeyli presented the Certificate of Appreciation to the guest.
