Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

The President of ANAS, Academician Isa Habibbeyli met with the Vice President of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS), Academician Sergey Aldoshin.

Speaking at the meeting held at the Presidium of ANAS, Academician Isa Habibbeyli said that the centuries-old Azerbaijani-Russian scientific and cultural relations create broad opportunities for fruitful cooperation also between the scientific institutions of both countries.

The head of ANAS mentioned that there are cooperation relations between the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences and the Russian Academy of Sciences based on historical traditions. These relations were preserved during the years of independence, cooperation agreements were signed, and during the events held last year in connection with the 300th anniversary of the Russian Academy of Sciences, a joint roadmap for future research was defined.

In his speech, Vice President of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Academician Sergey Aldoshin expressed his gratitude for the hospitality and conveyed the greetings of the President of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Academician Gennady Krasnikov. Saying that this was his second visit to Baku, Sergey Aldoshin emphasized that the scientific relations between ANAS and RAS are based on mutual trust, friendship, and long-term cooperation traditions. He highlighted the great potential for conducting broader research within the framework of this cooperation in the future. The academician also underlined that, with modern challenges, the role of science is growing, and in this regard, international partnerships are of particular importance for accelerating scientific innovations.

Academician Sergey Aldoshin also provided information about the ongoing reforms in the fields of science and education in Russia, as well as the responsibilities of the Russian Academy of Sciences within the framework of these reforms.

After the speeches, photos were taken to commemorate the event.

The meeting was also attended by Academician Abel Maharramov, Head of Department at Baku State University, and Head of Department for Foreign Relations and International Organizations of the Presidium administration of ANAS, PhD in Biology Esmira Alirzayeva.
