The harvest of grain grown for experimental purposes at the Karabakh Scientific Research Base of the Institute of Genetic Resources of ANAS has been completed.
Hamid Mehdiyev, director of the Karabakh Scientific Research Base, said that field experiments on selection and seed production of grain crops are carried out in various nurseries, including competitive variety testing, the first manga of regionalized varieties and seed nursery. In addition, in 2019, the approbation work on the regionalized "Maya" durum and "Start" soft wheat varieties was completed, and the harvesting of
primary seed crops sown in order to increase and obtain super elite seeds was completed. The average yield per hectare is 50 quintals. The produced elite seeds will be given to farmers.
Let’s noted that, 6 varieties of soft wheat, 2 varieties of durum wheat, as well as 2 varieties of barley were created by the scientists of the Institute of Genetic Resources in a short period of time at the Karabakh Scientific Research Base. State varietal testing of "South", "Diamond", "Khamsa", "Leyla", "Alliance" and other hard and soft wheat varieties continues successfully. Seed sowing of regionalized varieties "Maya", "Start" and "Janub" has kicked off.
