Scientific research was conducted at the Institute of Dendrology of ANAS, aimed at studying the bioecological characteristics of species belonging to the genus Catalpa, and Campsis large-flowered Campsis grandiflora K. Schum., Belonging to the genus Tecoma, under Absheron and the possibilities of their use in landscaping.

Speaking about this, Shabnam Aliyeva, a researcher at the Institute, reported that the seeds of sirenal catalpa were brought in 2015 from the Botanical Garden of Akdeniz University in Antalya (Turkey). She noted that during the study by applying various techniques, the morphological characteristics of the sprouts were studied.

The scientist said that the goal was to propagate the above species on Absheron in two ways - seeds and cuttings. Propagation of plants by seeds took place in stages. At the first stage, the quality of the seed material collected this year was checked. Seeds were planted in autumn in open areas and in greenhouses, and in spring - only in open areas. In the third decade of November, in order to neutralize acidity, the soil in the sowing area was fertilized with a mixture of crushed bark and superphosphates, as well as a mixture of land and peat. After the seeds were matured for 8 hours in special substrates, they were sown at a depth of 1-1.2 mm.

In the course of the research, the bioecological features of Campsis grandiflora “Campsis grandiflora K. Schum.” Were also studied. in the conditions of Absheron, the possibility of its reproduction and use in landscaping.
