On July 9, a commercial telecommunications satellite, known as APSTAR-6D, was successfully launched from the Xichang Cosmodrome (Southwest China).
The launch was carried out at 8:11 p.m. Beijing time using the Changzheng-3B launch vehicle (Great March-3B, Long March-3B).
The satellite was developed by the Chinese Academy of Space Technology (CAST), part of the China Corporation of Aerospace Science and Technology (CASC).
It was acquired by APT Mobile SatCom Limited in order to provide satellite broadband communications services for mobile communications applications operating on airplanes, ships and automobiles.
This launch was the 339th for the Changzhen series launch vehicles.
