The tests of the drug “Favipiravir” (also known as “Avigan”), which passed in Japan, proved its ineffectiveness in the treatment of coronavirus, Kyodo agency writes.
It is noted that during the tests there was no difference between those who take the drug and those who do not use it.
“Favipiravir” was developed by the Japanese corporation Fujifilm Holdings (“Fujifilm Holdings”). She planned to complete the tests in May, but tests involving several medical organizations were delayed.
The medicine was never sold freely due to side effects. However, the government keeps its stocks in case of an influenza epidemic. Also, the drug was used to treat Ebola.
