By giving one of the details of very small LEDs the shape of a three-dimensional "fin", scientists have increased their brightness hundreds and even thousands of times. This was due to the fact that the modification drastically reduced their heating and increased efficiency. The results of the work were published by the scientific journal Science Advances.
