The latest reported variant of the Sars-CoV-2 virus that causes Covid-19 emerged in Wuhan, China at the start of the pandemic and has been exported to Singapore and Taiwan. In Singapore, it was found in a cluster of cases in January and February. The researchers stated that patients infected with a variant with a 382 nucleotide deletion had better clinical outcomes compared to patients infected with viruses without this deletion.
