A team of scientists from the University of Otago in New Zealand has developed a special device to combat Alzheimer's disease.
The device is designed to stimulate the human olfactory system with the help of weak electrical impulses directed to the cerebral cortex.
Like Parkinson's disease, in the early stages of the disease, the part of the brain responsible for the functioning of the olfactory system is damaged.
Researchers note that the olfactory nerves reach the depths of the brain, affecting memory and navigation.
