The US National Aeronautics and Space Administration's (NASA) Ingenuity reconnaissance helicopter on Mars has successfully completed its first test flight.
A 1.8-kilogram mini-helicopter sent to Mars by NASA's Perseverance spacecraft has made its first test descent and take-off flight. The helicopter flew at a height of 3 meters for 30 seconds. The flight was controlled from the center in California. Images of the mini-helicopter were shared on social media.
“Perseverance” was launched on June 20, 2020 from the “Cape Canaveral” Space Station in Florida, USA. The spacecraft landed on Mars on February 20, 2021 after traveling 470 million km for 7 months.
