Acad. Rasim Alguliyev attended annual general assembly of Austrian Academy of Sciences

Rasim Alguliyev, academician, academician-secretary of ANAS, director of the Institute of Information Technology attended annual general assembly of Austrian Academy of Sciences, Vienna, May 8.

In the event carried out since 1945 and devoted to Austria's Freedom Day on May 8 were reported Austrian President Heinz Fischer, President of the Austrian Academy of Sciences Anton Zeylinger, Vice-Chancellor and Federal Minister Reinhold Mitterlehner, Professor Gerhard Kasper as well. Event attended by leading scientists and experts from various countries and governmental officials.

It should be noted that idea of establishing Austrian Academy of Sciences was put forward by the German philosopher Gottfried Leibniz in 1713. The Academy of Sciences was established on May 14, 1847 in Vienna. Organization was named Austrian Academy of Sciences in 1947. Currently, 29 research institutes operate attached to the academy. It has 770 members conducting research in all scientific fields and employs 1300 individuals.
