Different degree of popularity among other people directly affects the person’s position in society. American scientists carried out an experiment, trying to understand why some people attract more attention than others.

The researchers took human behavior in social networks as basis. They evaluated people on photos, while their brain was studied using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), which determines the most active areas of the brain. It became clear that a specific neural evaluation system in the cerebral cortex responds for the recognition of other people’s popular, it is also able to determine certain people that are attractive to others, even if the man himself does not consider them as such.

Data on the neural evaluation system allows us to understand how presentation on the status of others affects on our own behavior.
